Lakewood, CO — The Trans-Mississippi Golf Association (TMGA) successfully conducted the 54-hole TMGA Mid-Master & Mid-Amateur Championship at Lakewood Country Club, marking the association’s first championship at the venue since 1952, when legendary amateur Charlie Coe captured the TMGA Amateur Championship.
This championship carries added significance as the first National Championship to feature the Mid-Master Division as a primary tournament component, reflecting the TMGA’s commitment to expanding competitive opportunities for players aged 40 and above. A total of 72 golfers competed across two divisions:
- Mid-Amateur Division: Ages 25–39
- Mid-Master Division: Ages 40+
Ideal weather and Lakewood’s classic, strategically demanding layout provided a championship-caliber test throughout the event.
Pat Grady, of Westminster, CO claimed the Mid-Master title with exceptional play across all three rounds (69,67,72). Grady birdied the 53rd hole and posted a final-round 72 (+1) to secure victory at five under par for the championship.
Haymes Snedeker, of Daphne, AL, mounted a strong final-round charge, firing a two-under par 69 and tying the lead late on the back nine before finishing runner-up. Jay Livsey, a Lakewood Country Club member, earned third place at one-over par for the event.
The final round began with Corey Chavez, La Mirada, CA, holding a one-shot lead over Ryan Terry in the Mid-Amateur division. Starting on hole ten, Chavez posted a three-over 39 on his opening nine, while Terry remained steady at even par. Terry then delivered a dominant 31 (4-under par) on his closing nine to take control of the championship.
Terry, of Brentwood, TN, finished at ten-under par for the tournament, capturing the Mid-Amateur title. Chavez’s final round 73 left him five shots back in second place.
Both Grady and Terry have earned exemptions into the 2027 TMGA Amateur Championship with their tremendous play at the 2026 TMGA Mid-Master & Mid-Amateur Championship. Top finishers in both divisions have also earned WAGR points.
The TMGA’s return to Lakewood Country Club after 74 years provided a meaningful historical backdrop, and the club’s exceptional course presentation contributed to a highly successful championship experience for all competitors.
